Welcome to Germany – your path to integration starts here
Good German language skills are essential for settling in Germany and finding your way around everyday life. They will not only help you find work or fill out forms, but also support your children at school and meet new people. It is also important to learn more about German history, culture and the legal system.
You can learn all this in our integration courses, which we offer on behalf of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
What can you expect in the integration course?
An integration course consists of two parts:
Language course: Here you will learn German for everyday life – topics such as work, housing, health and much more. The course specifically prepares you for the final exam, the ‘German Test for Immigrants’ (DTZ). Upon passing this exam, you will receive a certificate at language level A2 or B1.
Orientation course: In this part, you will learn important information about life in Germany – for example, about rights and obligations, history, culture and the political system. At the end, you will take the ‘Living in Germany’ (LiD) test, which is also relevant for the naturalisation process.
Course scope
Integration course: 600 teaching units* for the language course and 100 teaching units for the orientation course (*one teaching unit = 45 minutes)
